They're easy to make, full of healthy ingredients and do you the world of good. What's not to like ? Here are five light, fresh and nutritious smoothie recipes that will add a bit of colour to your summer.

Vitamin-packed red fruit smoothie

Blitz together : 

- 300g of fresh blackcurrants 

- 300g of fresh gooseberries 

- juice of 1 lemon 

- 250ml of skimmed milk 

The vitamin power of this smoothie ? Red fruits are low in calories and rich in vitamins and minerals, notably potassium, magnesium, iron, vitamin C (blackcurrant is one of the fruits that's richest in vitamin C, with 200 mg per 100g) and pro-vitamin A.

Blitz together : 

- 1 yellow melon 

- juice of 1 lemon 

- 50cl of milk 

The refreshing power of this smoothie ? Juicy fruits such as melon or watermelon contain up to 91% water.

Banana and fig detox smoothie

Blitz together : 

- 1 banana

- 150g of figs 

- 20cl of milk 

The detox power of this smoothie ? Figs are anantioxidantfruit, thanks to their flavonoid content. Bananas also have antioxidant properties, plus they're packed with beta and alpha-carotene, two carotenoids that are converted by the body into vitamin A, which plays an important role in the absorption of iron, essential for generating energy.

Strawberry and mint fat-burning smoothie

Blitz together : 

- 200g of strawberries 

- a few fresh mint leaves 

- 2 small pots of low-fat natural yoghurt 

- 10g of honey 

The fat-burning power of this smoothie ? Like pineapple, green tea and broccoli, mint is a superfood that naturally burns fat and purifies the body. These foods kick-start enzymes that burn fat and increase the metabolism after eating a meal by 20%.

Gourmet grenadine smoothie

Blitz together : 

- 160g of mixed summer fruits (strawberries, raspberries, blackcurrants, blueberries, blackberries) 

- 2 tablespoons of grenadine syrup 

- 3 tablespoons of single cream 

- 6cl of apple juice 

The gourmet power of this smoothie ? It's rich and indulgent. To make it even tastier, you can add a teaspoon of honey or maple syrup, some almonds or hazelnuts, a bit of grated coconut... Or why not go the whole hog with a dollop of whipped cream or a drizzle of melted chocolate ? We all need a blowout sometimes, and this one just happens to contain loads of health-giving berries so we still feel virtuous.
